Biomechanics/Orthotic Prescription
When your feet hurt...You hurt all over
A good part of your back trouble or hip pain or neck stiffness or knee clicking may be associated with or may be directly a result of poor foot function.
Foot care is an extremely important part of your general health. The human foot is a biological masterpiece. Its strong, flexible and functional design enables it to do its job well and without complaint if you take care of it!
The foot can be compared to a finely tuned racing car; vastly complex - with 26 main bones each the two feet contain a quarter of all the bones in the body. The components of the feet need to work well together to adequately share the tremendous pressures of daily living. An average day of walking, for example, brings a force equal to several hundred tons to bear on the feet.
Studies show that up to 75% of the population experience foot problems of a greater or lesser degree. Those of us that compensate for foot problems by altering our gait invite even more problems, this time throughout the whole body; did you ever wonder why you have a bad back?
A biomechanical assessment and gait analysis with our specialist podiatrist will determine what the issues are and may involve the prescription of Orthotics. These devices, also known as insoles, fit inside your shoes and are made to meet your specific needs to help your feet perform at their peak efficiency.
Watson's Court Health Clinic only recommends Orthotics from The Langer Group, leaders and innovators in the field of foot orthoses with over 25 years experience.
Orthotics are used for the treatment of:
Lower back pain
Neck stiffness
Toe cramping
Leg fatigue
Arch pain
Heel pain
Calluses

Corns

'I am so pleased with my insoles! I went for the 'top of the range' option as I knew it was the best thing for my whole body. My arches no longer ache and my knees and back have also felt the benefit of them.'
'I had been suffering from severe pain in my large toes and the balls of my feet for some time, caused by Arthritis and Hallux Rigidus. After being fitted with orthotics recommended by Jackie, I noticed a huge improvement, I find them very comfortable and can now happily walk for miles. As an extra bonus I have also noticed a difference with my knees, which were also painful. They are now much improved also, probably due to my legs begin correctly aligned.'
'I have for several years suffered from a collapsed ankle and now I have some arthritis in the joint. I then started to get more pain in the foot and ankle and was unable to walk any distance.
Two years ago I visited Jackie and was told of the orthotics which she was professionally qualified to prescribe. I have had them for 18 months and can only say that the effect has been marvellous. I am now virtually free of foot pain and can live with the discomfort in the ankle. I would fully recommend this for anyone with foot, leg or back problems.'
